Welcome

Hi, I’m Nicola.

Clinical Psychologist and Integrative Psychotherapist | Multicultural & Trauma-Informed Approach

I work collaboratively with clients to support emotional growth, improve functioning, and build deeper awareness of the self and one’s relationships. Whether you’re navigating a difficult life event or facing recurring unhelpful patterns, therapy can offer a space to reflect, heal, and find new ways of coping that support your overall vitality and well-being. My approach is flexible and client-centred. Being an integrative therapist means I draw from a variety of evidence-based modalities to tailor our work to your specific needs. This broad viewpoint allows me to adapt to what best supports your healing and growth—whether you’re looking for short-term support or deeper, ongoing work.

Individual Therapy in Paris

Life Transitions & Personal Growth

I work with clients navigating significant life changes such as grief, breakups, relocation, starting university, or adjusting to new roles and identities. These moments, though often difficult, can be powerful turning points for insight and self exploration.

Identity, Belonging & Marginalization

I work with people exploring identity, including gender, sexuality, and cultural belonging. Having lived across continents myself, I understand the emotional complexity of immigration and the need for a space where all parts of you are welcome. I am an active ally and have a particular interest in supporting clients from marginalized groups

Stress &  Burnout

I help people manage chronic stress, overwhelm, and burnout, particularly when connected to work or caregiving. I have training in workplace mental health and am passionate about supporting clients in creating sustainable, balanced lives.

Trauma & Nervous System Regulation

For clients impacted by trauma (whether acute, complex, relational, or systemic) I offer integrative somatic therapy to support healing through the mind-body connection. This work helps reduce internal stress, improve emotional regulation, and bring about a sense of safety and presence.

Depression & Anxiety

I offer support for those experiencing symptoms of mood disorders, including anxiety, depression, and postpartum challenges. Our work may involve both practical tools for managing day-to-day symptoms and deeper exploration of the roots of emotional distress

Relational Functioning & Family Challenges

I help clients improve their relationships; whether in the context of romantic partnerships, marriages, or difficult family dynamics. This includes navigating conflict, communication breakdowns, boundary-setting, and the pain of estrangement.

Infertility counselling

I know how emotionally exhausting and disorienting the journey through infertility can be. The stress and uncertainty of trying to conceive—especially during fertility treatments—can stir up waves of fear, sadness, anger, regret, jealousy, and grief. I provide a safe and supportive space to explore these emotions. Together, we’ll develop practical tools for emotional regulation, manage anxiety, and work through relationship tensions that may arise during this challenging time.

I bring both professional expertise and personal experience to this work (having been through IVF myself), and I’m here to support you with empathy, insight, and care.

I welcome individuals and couples of all backgrounds—including solo parents-to-be, same-sex couples, those pursuing adoption, and people experiencing secondary infertility. No matter where you are in your journey, you don’t have to face it alone. If you're feeling overwhelmed or unsure of where to start, I invite you to reach out. Let’s talk about how I can support you.

How I work

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Is a compassionate, evidence-based approach to therapy that helps you understand and heal the different “parts” of yourself. We all have a range of inner parts—like the anxious part, the perfectionist, the inner critic, or the part that feels wounded or angry. IFS sees these parts not as problems, but as protective and adaptive responses developed through life experience. By understanding and unburdening parts that carry pain or extreme roles, IFS helps restore internal communication and harmony. It’s a gentle yet powerful model that can be especially helpful for trauma, anxiety, depression, and self-esteem issues.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

Is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals manage overwhelming emotions, reduce self-destructive behaviors, and improve relationships. This approach is especially effective for those dealing with emotional dysregulation, mood disorders, or relationship difficulties.

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)

Combines the principles of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with mindfulness practices to help you become more aware of your thoughts, emotions, and body sensations—without judgment. It’s especially effective for managing anxiety, stress, and preventing relapse in depression. By learning to observe your inner experiences with curiosity and compassion, MBCT helps you break free from negative thought patterns and respond to challenges with greater calm and clarity.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

Focuses on uncovering how past experiences—especially early relationships—shape your current thoughts, emotions, and behavior. By bringing unconscious patterns into conscious awareness, this approach helps you better understand yourself, improve emotional insight, and create lasting change. It’s particularly effective for those interested in deep self-exploration and working through long-standing emotional struggles.

Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy

This approach recognizes that trauma doesn’t just live in our thoughts or memories; it lives in the body. You might feel this as chronic tension, anxiety, numbness, exhaustion, or a sense of being stuck in survival mode.Somatic therapy helps restore the connection between mind and body. By gently tuning in to physical sensations, breath, posture, and nervous system patterns, we can begin to release held tension and reconnect with a sense of safety and regulation. This work can help reduce stress and overwhelm and improve emotional resilience.

Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT)

Is a mindfulness-based therapy that helps you develop psychological flexibility—the ability to stay present, accept difficult emotions, and take meaningful action aligned with your values. Instead of trying to eliminate uncomfortable thoughts or feelings, ACT teaches you how to relate to them differently, so they no longer control your behavior. It’s especially helpful for anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions.

Attachment-based therapy

Explores how early relationships—particularly with caregivers—have shaped the way you relate to yourself and others. This approach helps identify patterns of connection, trust, and emotional regulation that may impact current relationships. By fostering a safe and supportive therapeutic bond, attachment work can help you build healthier, more secure ways of relating to others and yourself.

Getting started

I know that finding the right therapist is daunting. To help you decide if we’re a good fit, I offer a free 15-minute introductory call, bookable via phone or video. During this time, you can ask me any questions, and I can share more about my approach to therapy. I’ll also be honest about whether I can help with your particular needs, or if I think another therapist with more relevant experience might be a better fit.

I see adults (16+) for individual therapy in English in Paris. I am happy to accept clients who live elsewhere in France or the UK via secure video consultation.

I work on weekdays, at two different locations. Both are easily accessed by metro within 15 minutes of Hotel de Ville in Central Paris. I am available to see clients in person or virtually via secure video call from both locations.

About Me

I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology (Cum Laude) from Stellenbosch University and I have 10 years of experience and mental health training. I am registered with various professional regulatory bodies: in France (ADELI: 759370455), the United Kingdom (HCPC: PYL3678), and South Africa (HPCSA: PS 013800).

Being a psychologist is my second career. For many years, I worked as a fashion stylist, but over time, I found myself feeling exhausted and disconnected, like my life had lost a sense of purpose. I made the decision to change direction and pursue something closer to what is important to me -connecting with people and experiencing emotional life, in all its messiness.

Having lived in many parts of the world, I  understand the complexities of immigration and cultural adjustment. I have a special interest in supporting individuals who are navigating identity, belonging, and assimilation in unfamiliar environments. I’m deeply committed to providing a safe, inclusive space and to being an active ally for anyone who feels marginalised. I’ve published research on the impact of structural racism and sexism in medical training, and these issues remain close to the heart of my clinical work.

I am originally from Cape Town, South Africa, I love hiking, camping, woodfires, cats, and taking hot-weather holidays—anything that brings me closer to family, nature and rest.
